As my faithful readers will know, one such dream for my life was to one day live in, or at least be able to visit, England. The place intrigued me, plain and simple. Literature itself would lead me there, by way of imagination, many many times throughout high school and college. They wrote so very well. And they sounded so very interesting. I must, must go. I must!
Quite apart from Shakespeare and Dickens, I had read, and kept reading much of Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, the Bronte's, Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Roald Dahl, and, most especially, C.S. Lewis. With all that British Literature, it was all a girl could do to remain on home soil.
And then at last, as a married lady, I finally achieved the dream. Air Force and husband (and Someone much bigger than both) contrived to set those wheels in motion. Tiny daughter and I stepped onto a British Airways flight to Heathrow, soon to be whisked off to the base, on the wrong and scary side of the road.
Our first glimpse of real England was three days later, post jet lag. Godmanchester, first chartered in the year 1212.

Here was the home of The Black Bull and the Chinese Bridge, where in the river below swam and quacked countless ducks for small daughter to feed. Best of all, and well visited by us, was the China Tea Pot, described to you in the post of October 23. Scones and tea hardly come any better than they did there.
Dreams do come true. This one lasted four years, and so a small boy was added to the rolls of British (and American) citizenry.
So, dream on! It isn't too late. You won't be too old for a long time yet, and may never be too old at all. Age does not play into Dreams.
See you along the way!
