Downton Abbey Ep6

While The Cat's Away

Lord Grantham is going to America.

There are new pigs on the farm.

And the Dowager Countess is ill.

All of this is very interesting, but nothing compares with the return of the Evil Creep (which strikes me as a parallel to the aforementioned pigs).

Lord Grantham wants to know why Bates can't go with him to America. Every Lord needs his Valet. One cannot be expected to dress oneself, and certainly NOT in America. There are far too many 'outfits' to cope with.

Through a a long series of secret-keeping/secret-telling, Thomas is to go instead of Bates. And no one wants to explain the real reason to Lord Grantham. Which makes me crazy, because people hid the attack on Anna for weeks, and now her attacker is back, and downstairs, and not at all sorry (I think, however, that Green may soon meet his comeuppance face to face. And we won't be at all sorry).

For the rest:

-I am sad and was scared that the Dowager Countess became ill. But happy and encouraged that she took a liking to gin rummy.

-I don't care about the Liberal political meeting Tom went to.

-The lady Tom met at the Liberal political meeting had better just stay out of it.

-I don't care very much about the spat between Daisy and Ivy, but I do sort of root for Daisy all the same.

-I loved that Lady Mary rescued muddy dehydrated piggies with Mr. Blake.

-I think Lady Rose will get into a scrape she can't easily get out of.

-And Edith? Edith does seem to insist upon making mistake after mistake. But I heartily cheered her decision in the end last night. Yay Edith!

So there, once again, you have it. But oh! - you must hear my favorite line. It was Mary's comment to her father when he asked, "What do you know of such things?" She replied:

"I've been married. I know everything."

Couldn't have said it better.

See you along the way!
the SconeLady
